“O Allah, send Your mercy (ṣalāh) upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent mercy upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.
O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.”
Allah says in the Qur’an: “Indeed Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe, send blessings upon him and greet him with peace.” [Qur’an 33:56]
The Ṣaḥābah (companions) asked the Prophet ﷺ: “O Messenger of Allah, we know how to greet you (say salām), but how should we send blessings upon you?”He ﷺ then taught them Darood-e-Ibrahim. [Bukhārī, Muslim]
Every time a Muslim sends ṣalāh (darood) upon the Prophet ﷺ, Allah sends 10 blessings upon that person.
It brings a person closer to the Prophet ﷺ on the Day of Judgment.
It is a means for sins to be forgiven and duʿās (supplications) to be accepted.
