The Holy Qur’an is the final and
most perfect revelation of Allah, sent as guidance for mankind. It is not only
a book of laws and instructions but also a source of mercy, light, and
spiritual healing. Reciting the Qur’an is among the greatest acts of worship in
Islam. It strengthens faith, purifies the heart, and brings peace to the soul.

References
Allah Almighty emphasizes the
importance of reciting the Qur’an with reflection. He says: “Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most upright and gives glad
tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great
reward.” (Surah Al-Isra, 17:9)
Another verse highlights the
blessing of remembrance: “So recite what is easy [for you] of the Qur’an.” (Surah Al-Muzzammil,
73:20)
This shows that even a small portion
of recitation is valued by Allah, and consistency in recitation is more
important than quantity.
Prophetic
Traditions (Hadith)
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
encouraged his followers to engage with the Qur’an regularly. He said: “The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.” (Sahih
al-Bukhari)
He also promised immense rewards for
recitation: “Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward, and
the reward will be multiplied by ten. I do not say that ‘Alif Lam Meem’ is a
letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Meem is a letter.”
(Sunan al-Tirmidhi)
This hadith shows that every single
letter of the Qur’an brings blessings and reward, highlighting the immense
value of even the smallest effort in recitation.
Spiritual
and Practical Benefits
Reciting the Qur’an brings light to
the heart, tranquility to the mind, and guidance in daily life. It protects a
believer from sin and brings him closer to Allah. On the Day of Judgment, the
Qur’an will intercede for its reciters, as the Prophet (peace be upon him)
said: “Recite the Qur’an, for it will come as an intercessor for its companions on
the Day of Resurrection.” (Sahih Muslim)
The recitation of the Qur’an is
one of the most rewarding acts of worship in Islam. It not only increases our
knowledge of divine guidance but also purifies our hearts and elevates our
status in this life and the Hereafter. A Muslim should strive to recite the
Qur’an daily with sincerity, reflection, and love, so that it becomes a source
of guidance, mercy, and intercession.
